Our bodies are made up of several different tissue structures, including muscle, tendon, bone, nerves, and cartilage.

Each structure remodels over a different time frame and benefits from different treatment approaches. If we treat them all the same, your outcomes will not be as good, and you will likely get frustrated if you do not understand the different tissue healing time frames of cartilage compared to muscle tissue. At Mondo, your Physical Therapist will identify the structure involved and educate you on the expected healing time frames and optimal loading approach to get the best outcomes. We cannot speed up tissue healing time frames, but we can certainly create the optimal environment for healing to take place.

All injured tissues require motion, oxygenation, and blood flow to allow for optimal regeneration. Resistance, intensity, and frequency must be appropriate in order to maximize healing to the specific tissue involved.

Sufficient rest is also a vital component of tissue healing. Without rest, there is no tissue rebuilding.

The optimal number of repetitions, sets, and resistance differs depending on what specific tissue is injured. For example, tendons have a significantly lower metabolism than muscles and, therefore, respond to different amounts of repetitions, sets, and resistance to facilitate optimal tissue healing.
