Joshua Elrod

PT, DPT, PRC, FAAOMPT

Born and raised in Lockhart, Texas, Dr. Elrod has over a decade of experience working as a physical therapist. He enjoys working with people who are active, whether that means chasing around their kids or running marathons.

A lifelong learner, Dr. Elrod earned his Fellowship in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists through The Manual Therapy Institute. He is a Fellow Mentor for The Manual Therapy Institute, where he educates physical therapists pursuing their Fellowship, helping them build on their manual therapy skills and hone their ability to discern differential diagnoses. Dr. Elrod is also Postural Restoration Certified and combines his manual therapy training and PRI skills into his treatment approaches. Dr. Elrod holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Elrod loves working on shoulder injuries and finds himself drawn to working with throwing athletes as well as asymmetrical athletes such as hockey, baseball, and soccer players. He understands the importance of good posture and is always looking for ways to incorporate postural restoration into exercise programs.

Dr. Elrod offers additional treatment techniques, including dry needling and Active Release Technique. Dry needling can help reduce pain and improve range of motion in patients. He sees the discipline as an orthopedic tool used to dig deeper into soft tissue that can’t quite be reached by manual manipulation alone. Dr. Elrod also completed Active Release Technique education, which focuses on the soft tissue system to address different injuries to muscles, tendons and ligaments, including advanced coursework on nerve entrapment and complex protocols.

Outside of Mondo, Dr. Elrod lifts weights and runs. He loves being outside, taking meandering bike rides with his wife and kids, and coaching his son’s tee ball team.
